Designing and making since 1998, Brisbane-based Matt Dwyer boasts a rich and diverse portfolio. This comprises jewellery and objects made with precious metals, resin, ebony and natural gems of interesting or unusual cuts and colours.
His work is characterised by challenging design, meticulous craftsmanship – including intricate saw-piercing, heavy layering, and bold press forming – as well as the use of carefully sourced stones.
Thematically Dwyer predominantly draws on memory, sentiment, rituals, values in jewellery, forgotten objects and bygone eras.
The designer is also skilled in the rare and beautiful silversmithing technique of raising, creating stunning collectable teawares and vessels by hand.
